Warner Bros. has announced the updated movie slate for their DC Films universe which is missing out some major projects.
their line-up of films, unveiled at the most recent Brazilian Comic-Con.
Mentioned at the convention were:
Wonder Woman II
Justice League Dark
Suicide Squad 2
Green Lantern Corps
The Aquaman film from James Wan and starring Jason Momoa is in post-production and will release on Dec. 21, 2018. Wonder Woman II is confirmed to have Patty Jenkins returning to direct Gal Gadot for a Nov. 1, 2019 release. The Shazam project has gotten some movement as of late, with director David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation) helming the film, with Chuck star Zachary Levi as the titular superhero and Asher Angel (Andi Mack) as his child alter-ego Billy Batson. That film will come out on April 5, 2019.
Joss Whedon is apparently still attached to write and direct Batgirl, and Gavin O’Connor was confirmed to helm Suicide Squad 2. However, the Flash film (now known as Flashpoint) and Justice League Dark are both troubled productions, losing directors and lacking proper release dates like Batgirl and Suicide Squad 2. The Batman has gone through various iterations in pre-production, with Matt Reeves confirmed to direct, but Ben Affleck’s return as Bruce Wayne is still in question. Meanwhile, Green Lantern Corps does not have a director lined up, though the project is due in theaters July 24, 2020.
Strangely enough, a previously announced Cyborg film starring Justice League star Ray Fisher was not included in DC’s slate. We should also be expecting a Nightwing film from Chris McKay, a standalone sequel to Man of Steel, a second Justice League, a Black Adam solo film starring Dwayne Johnson, Gotham City Sirens from David Ayer, a Joker/Harley Quinn movie, a Deathstroke movie, an unrelated Joker film from Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese, and an apparent solo Harley Quinn movie (per MTV)—none of these projects are included in that lineup, either.
