With the release of his female centric film, The Neon Demon, this past Friday, Nicholas Winding Refn thinks he wants to direct a DC superhero movie starring one of DC’s most iconic female superheroes.
Speaking with Business Insider, Refn talked about how he’s wanted to direct a superhero film for a while now:
God, I would love to make one, it would probably be great fun. I just don’t know when it’s going to happen. I very much enjoy my freedom creatively, but I also would love to make one of those big Hollywood films that costs a lot of money and has a lot of people running around with cell phones and all that insanity.
A couple of years back the Drive director said he wanted to make a Wonder Woman movie. Obviously that can’t happen now unless he gets picked up for a sequel, so the director says he would settle for a Batgirl movie instead.
What ones are left? You know the one I want to do? I want to make Batgirl. Let’s get Warner working on it.
Considering his past projects, the director could definitely provide something fresh the the genre.
What do you think? Do you think Refn is right for a Batgirl movie? Let us know in the comments.
